RPL Assessment - BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management (Recognition of Prior Learning)

With our RPL fast-track, experienced project managers can achieve the nationally recognised qualification BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management, simply by providing documentation from recent projects and discussing your project management experience with an assessor. Members of the Australian Institute of Project Management will also receive automatic certification as a Certified Practicing Project Practitioner (CPPP).

Description

The assessment is based on a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process involving 3 steps:

  1. Collect your Portfolio of Evidence using our RPL Assessment Kit.

  2. Review and discuss your evidence with an assessor to demonstrate your knowledge and experience in project management.

  3. Receive your BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management qualification, plus automatic CPPP certification for AIPM members.

Assessment FAQs

Achieving this nationally recognised qualification through RPL involves demonstrating your underpinning knowledge and experience in managing projects through a Portfolio of Evidence and online Assessment Interview with an assessor.

Portfolio of Evidence

The Portfolio of Evidence comprises relevant documentation from current and past projects, and is submitted along with short answers to knowledge questions and an optional 3rd party supporting statement for each unit of competency.

Once this evidence has been reviewed, your assessor will email you to advise whether your submission was Satisfactory or whether additional evidence/clarification is needed in a resubmission.

Assessment Interview

Once your Portfolio of Evidence has been assessed as Satisfactory, you may book in for a 2-hour Assessment Interview at a time of your choosing. This structured interview involves walking through the evidence (documentation) that you submitted, and talking through some of the underpinning knowledge questions in the context of your work-based projects.

Following the Assessment Interview, if you are assessed as Competent in all 12 Units of Competency, then your BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management will be emailed to you within 10 working days.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the RPL Assessment, you must:

  1. Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

  2. Meet the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirements for this qualification (this is verified in the online enrolment form).

  3. Have access to documentation from two or more work-based projects that you have managed within the past 5 years (note: phases and work-packages may qualify as ‘work-based projects’ if they were managed using standard project management practices).

On confirmation of payment, you will given a link to our online enrolment form, where these three criteria will be confirmed and you will be formally enrolled. You will then be provided with all learning and assessment resources.

If you are found to be ineligible for the RPL Assessment, then your course fees will be refunded in full.
